Hello, I am inquiring about a high thermal performing hanger door for a project in Alberta, Canada. The clear opening size is 8mX34m (HxW). I have listed some requirements below. Door will be used less than 6 times a year, Must perform similar to a wall with an R value in excess of R-22 (target is R-30) Air leakage less than or equal to 0.01 L/s per meter squared  This building is a museum and has very high targeted performance levels. As you can see, the requirements are very strict. Based on the above information, please provide the following:  Your solutions with any limitations. We can also explore the option of modifying your system in place to reach our required performance standards. Maximum performance levels for your product. Dimensions of the system in closed and open condition. Please give us your quote/information for both of your door technology. Ideally, we would like to use a single door that spans 34m wide to reduce thermal breaks. However, if that is not possible, please let us know the minimum number of sections needed for the door to work. Kind Regards, Sam

I am looking for a budget number for a Bi fold thermal door. The door is 61'7" by 17' tall. The bottom section has 6- 1' x 3' windows. We are in the planning stage with our architect. I am trying to get a budget for what this door would cost with two handheld remote openers. Is this a door we can install ourselves?

59

Hello, I am working on a project near downtown Minneapolis and am hoping you can answer a few questions. For background: I have a couple of tenth story rooftop patios where we would love to have overhead glass doors. We have looked at options from several manufacturers for sectional overhead doors and have been satisfied with them aesthetically, but we need to achieve better thermal performance and air infiltration than we think they can provide. My questions stem from these needs, and, unsurprisingly, cost. 1. What kind of thermal performance can you achieve in a door with divided lites similar to your bifold doors at the Federales Mexican restaurant in Chicago? Can you provide a thermally broken door construction? I am interested in either a bifold door or a one-piece hydraulic-just trying to get a sense for what performs best thermally and cost. 2. What air infiltration rates can you achieve? 3. Can you help me understand how much these doors cost? Ballpark? I'm sure a true quote would require more information. Rough sizes we have considered (subject to change): 2 doors @ 6'-0" wide and 9'-4" tall and 2 doors @ 15'-4" wide and 11'-4" tall for a total of 4 doors. 4. Can you accommodate the glass that we have specified for our windows? We have spec'd Cardinal LoE 270. We have some wind loads to deal with at the height these would be installed, but given the variety of conditions and sizes of doors you make, I don't see that being an issue for you. I really appreciate your assistance and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks, Samuel

60

Hi, we have 3 hangars 120x120 with sliding doors and we are looking for a better solution to insulate and climatize our hangars, at least 1 or 2 of them. Do your thermal bifold doors seal good enough to have the hangar with air conditioned? Will we lose a lot of the height of the gap? How can we get a quote? What do you need from me to provide a quote?

61

Can you please mail me information on your bifold thermal efficient doors, energy efficiency and approximate pricing and sizes please? I am very interested in having one installed from my home to my deck and pool area. Thank you Nikki Powell

62

1. Are your doors suitable for use as part of an emergency smoke relief system for a 130 ft. high commercial office building with an atrium? The idea is that the doors would open up to a courtyard for daily use but would operate as part of an emergency smoke relief system in case of a fire. Are there existing office or industrial uses that do use your doors in this fashion. 2. What are the thermal performance characteristics of your glass doors for use in a modern office building? for a bifolding door 20ft wide and 12 ft. high? Do you have shop drawings of such a door?

63

I am designing a 300 unit multifamily building in phoenix az. I was looking at your schweiss bifold doors for loading door that faces a major street. This door would need to be clad in wood to match the design intent of the rest of the building. I was hoping that you may have some pricing information for a similar door that is roughly 12%u2019 wide by 14%u2019 to 16%u2019 tall. I was hoping to also get the pricing difference between the lift strap and the hydraulic systems Thank you,Brown

64

We're proposing your Schweiss bifold door for a project, and the owner wants to know how the U-value of your overall door compares with the existing conditions. 66

Please quote a replacement bi-fold hanger door for Alyeska%u2019s helicopter hanger in Glennallen, AK. The applicable bifold door wind loads corresponding to a design wind speed (ASCE7-10) of 118 mph, Exposure B, are 20 psf positive pressure and 22 psf negative (suction) pressure. The actual existing clear opening width is 34 ft. The actual RO height is about 18 ft. We do not have a specification for the minimum R value, so please indicate what panel thickness and maximum R values would be available. This bifold thermal door would be used several times a day in a severe arctic environment. Please provide information on the available duty ratings of the operating mechanism, including the most severe duty available. Include an 3-0 x 7-0 inward opening exit door with the most severe duty frame, hinges, hydraulic closer, and hardware available. Include (2) 2x3 Schweiss bifold door lites in the upper panel that are impact resistant. Quote installation separately if you are able to do so.

67

Hello, I currently have a hangar with an existing bi-folder door and planning to insulate it. I'm looking at options to insulate the door and like your clean looking interlocking insulated panel systems. I would likely go with either the 17/8 or 23/8" thickness panels. The door is 42 wide and 12' high. Do you sell to Canada and can you provide pricing for both the 17/8 and 23/8 thickness panels? Looking for materials only pricing. I can pick up at a depot in Buffalo.

68

Hi, I have an immediate need for a Schweiss commercial door for a steel building, and am considering a bifold liftstrap door as an option. The building will be located indoors in a larger warehouse in OH. The structure has not yet been erected, but is scheduled for early January. This is a very low traffic application (maybe 2 or 3 cycles a day), so a medium duty door would be OK. The opening size will be 16' wide x 14' high. The door should have a motor operator. Since this is inside a building, there are no weather issues. However, even though it is indoors, I would still like to have your Schweiss interlocking cleanable insulation (for sound - not thermal). Please reply as soon as you can and let me know what are my most cost-effective options. Thanks.

69

We have a client who is interested in insulating two existing hangers and or interested in building a new hanger and I was interested in the new Schweiss interlocking insulated thermal door panels. Cost? the existing hanger doors are 42' wide x 16' high.

72

Hi - I am looking for two quotes on a 66' x 14' high clear opening door. Both thermal insulated hydraulic and insulated bifold (liftstrap).

73

I'm interested in R-value you can get from bifold doors whether glass doors or solid green doors. Can we insulate doors? Glazed glass versions stating the door energy efficiency? I am wanting bi-fold doors: 20'w x 10'h 20'w x 20'h. Also interested in using them in a window application. Where doors would be glazed with fake divided light windows for door openings 20'w x 9'h. Could I put 2 in each door opening so 10'w and 9'h.

74

We have a Minnesota project  that has a 80' wide by 27' high bi-fold government building door. The Schweiss bifold door is in our spec. We need to meet MN door energy code, ASHRAE 90.1, 2004. How is the bifold door U-factor determined on your doors? Does DASMA 105 apply? Does it differ for hydraulic one piece doors?

82

The temps here range from 95 F in the summer to 0 F in the winter. Can your bi-fold industrial grade  doors be sealed well against air infiltration? Can they be insulated? I want a band of glass across the door at eye-level, the door panels can be solid. I use my 24' X 31' garage shop door year round and want to heat it and air condition it at a reasonable cost. Will my contractor be able to install this door? I'll turn the information over to the architect to work out the Schweiss engineering door details.

What is/are R factors for Schweiss liftstrap and autolatch bi-fold doors? Those the autolatch increase the R factor? What insulation do you use?  What does the seal at the perimeter of the door or jamb look like? How does it stay tight under wind loads?

The request from the architect is for the heat to be off when the door is open. We are specifying a combination or Unit Heaters and Radiant Tube Heaters. Is there an option for an End Switch to be built into the operator or on the door to prevent the heat from operating when the door is open?

I\'m in the schematic design phase of a \"Net-Zero\" project, and have an idea on how to increase the thermal performance of a glass wall assembly. I\'m considering some sort of dynamic facade treatment over glass that when retracted will allow a visual connection to the outdoors, and can close during off hours to provide a higher thermal resistance to minimize heat loss. I\'m looking for a product that can have integral insulation, and minimize air leakage to maintain thermal integrity. The window will be 8\' high at most, and needs to maintain a thin profile. The largest series of windows is 16\' wide, and are fiberglass framed windows. If we\'re able to integrate an insulated system over the glass, we may be able to use an aluminum framed glazing system if that helps. Since this product will cover glass, appearance is important on the front and back sides. If Schweiss Doors has worked with similar applications, I would appreciate some additional information. I\'m also interested in any details you have to see how we would need to integrate the track, and get some idea on how to minimize air leakage. I\'m assuming your systems are metal framed, so there will be some concern for thermal bridging. We can potentially push the insulation to the outside of the frame to make it continuous, and clad both sides with thin metal or wood, but this would make the assembly thicker. Do you have any other framing options that are not as thermally conductive? I know that\'s probably a long shot, but looking at your high tech designer doors on your website I thought I would ask. Any information you can provide will be helpful in making a case to the client for this system. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I don\'t have any drawings to illustrate the concept yet, but hopefully the intent is clear.

We have an old 59'x21' Schweiss bi fold steel door on our aircraft hangar. We're looking to replace the fiberglass insulation with newer rigid sheet foam insulation that has a better "R" value.  As the door has aged we've replaced the 6-7 steel cables with nylon straps and are very happy with them. This door is nearly 20 years old and we haven't had a lick of a problem with it.  What we would like to know is your recommendation for foam material and optimal thickness we need. I'd like to have foam that is watertight, white in color, resistant to UV damage, and as light as possible Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated

I am interested for a insulated bifold door for an S model arch steel building. The dimension of the door is 22m wide x 6 m tall. Shipment to Quebec.

Currently have a building with 2 9x10 thermal Schweiss bifold doors but the home owner still want added protection during winter. I was wondering the cost of the doors and the specs on what is needed to put these doors on the outside of existing for double protection. Thanks

We need a price on a 35' x 16' door to go into the gable end of an EPS building with a wall R-value of 33, what R-value can we get with your Schweiss bifold door and what extra framing is needed in the building? Thank you

Currently have two Schweiss bi-fold doors on are aircraft hangar buildings. I am looking for some additional specs on wind limits for these doors. Have been requested by a renter as to what wind speed is unsafe for operations of door. Chad

Would like price quotes on both a 40 foot wide and a 30 foot wide BIFOLD SCHWEISS DOOR. Both being 18 foot tall.

110

I am looking for some prices on bifold doors, and info on how heavy and what dementions i am going to need to build my door frames for two different doors. One would be 14x14 and the other 20wx16h or possibly 24x16 with a walk out door built in it. Also wondering about how these doors can be insulated. Thank you for your time, Jeff

We building a "Super" insulated shop on our Ranch in Montana. We are looking at all options for our large hydraulic doors. We have several questions about your door capabilities and would like to start a discussion with you that would potentially result in us purchasing a door or three from you for our building. As designed, our shop has two 14' x 14' doors and one 16' x 30' door.

112

Looking for a price on a bifold door 40'x 18' for a farm equipment dealer . This would be for an addition on the existing building which is rigid steel frame building we would also be looking for the highest R - value available. Thank you Mack

113

I am planning on building a shop with a two doors. I would like have a 20 ft hydraulic door Schweiss on the side and a 30 to 40 ft door on the end with a height of at least 14 ft. I would like to compare your doors to over head doors

HI, We are building a house and wish to have an insulated bifold door on south side of the house that seals tightly against the windows. The wall is about 30' long, and there are 4 windows -each about 7' tall - evenly spaced on the wall. Can you folks do something like this? Thanks, Cory

115

Please send me a quote on a 40 x 20 bi-fold airplane hangar door with windows, hardware and insulation package

116

Looking for a insulated one piece door for our shop. Dimensions of the opening is 20'6" wide by 15'6" Height. We have a heated shop so a quote for insulated door would be what we are looking for.

117

No door in place at this time. Insulated bifold door required, building to be heated. Opening just shy of 12' no additional clearance available inside. If required, door opening would have to be reduced.

118

I have an existing 100'x 100' with 17' side wall steel building. I am considering putting in a 20'x 14' hydraulic Schweiss door in an end wall. There are 8" C shaped vertical beams spaced at 20' intervals supporting a 3.5"x 13" C shaped beam along the 1:12 pitch of the roof. I would have to remove one of these vertical beams and transfer the load. What information is required to get qoute for an insulated door with a walk in door. I am leaning more towards a bifold but would consider a hydraulic to get at 14' height clearance.

119

We are building a super insolated shop with R 40 in walls and R 60 in sealing. Looking for R 40 bifold doors--16' x 30' and 14' x 14' with air leak proof seal. what is your suggestion?

I am interested in specifying one of your horizontal bi-fold doors for a new school I am designing in Vernonia, Oregon. The opening would be approximately 10' high by 50' long. It would allow us to open up the cafeteria to a covered outdoor patio. Could you forward to me any information that you have regarding the thermal performance of the door (assuming insulated glass)? Are the frames thermally broken? Do you have reliable air infiltration testing information? How do the doors perform over time in terms of air coming into the building at the seams or tracks. Our main concern at this time is how the use of the door would impact the overall energy performance of the building.
